چکیده
The aim of our study was to evaluate the mineral composition (Zn, Cu, Ca, Fe, Mg, P) of breast tumor tissue and hair, and to investigate the role of Zn and Cu contents in diet on tumor development, with DMBAinduced rat breast cancer being the experimental model. Female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into study groups which, apart from the standard diet, were treated with Zinc ions (Zn) or Copper ions (Cu) via gavage for a period of from 40 days to 20 weeks of age. Regardless of diet (standard feed; Zn; Cu), DMBA-induced breast carcinogenesis was not inhibited. On the contrary, in the Cu-supplemented group, tumorigenesis developed at a considerably faster rate. Regardless of diet (standard feed; Zn; Cu), the induced tumors showed increased Fe and decreased Mg levels in contrast to those in the normal control tissue. Additional supplementation of the rat diet with Zn and Cu also resulted in an increased Cu level, with no effect on the Zn concentration. Most study groups (standard; Zn) also had an increased Fe content and decreased Mg, Ca, and P levels in the rat hair as compared with those

Plasma level of trace elements in patients with oral lichen planus
Background: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a common inflammatory disease of unknown origins. Recent studies have considered nutritional factors concerning the pathogenesis of many autoimmune disorders. The objective of the present study was to investigate the plasma levels of magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and iron (Fe) in this disorder. Methods: Included in this observation...

Abstract Background: Despite the high prevalence and recurrence of bladder cancer, researches about the role of trace elements such as iron, copper and zinc in bladder cancer are limited in number. In the present study the concentration of Iron, Copper and Zinc, (Fe, Cu and Zn) were determined in the serum of patients with bladder cancer and compared with the level of these trace elements ...

OBJECTIVE Metals such as copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe) are essential for human beings. Chronic metabolic disturbances may result from an excess or deficiency of these metals. Ca and Mg are also nutrient elements and play an important role in biological systems. Thus, it is very important to check regularly trace elements concentration in the body. The purpose of this study was to measure th...

Background: A powerful and improved technique, Proton Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) has been performed-yielding the elemental composition of 17 samples of surgically excised malignant and normal tumors of breast tissue. The samples without any further process as thick targets were put on capton foil backing. There are no homogenizing processes. The PIXE spectra analysis was performed using he n...
متن کاملEffects of dietary zinc, iron, and copper in layer feed on distribution of these elements in eggs, liver, excreta, soil, and herbage.
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary content and combinations of Zn, Fe, and Cu on deposition of these elements in egg components, liver, and excreta. Excreta were applied as a manure to a lawn, and 3 mo later soil and herbage samples were taken and analyzed. The experiment comprised 144 hens in 8 groups. The basal diet contained Zn, Fe, and Cu at 63.4, 92.8, and 9.0 mg...
